About Soo LingEdit
Soo Ling is a wounded Chinese prisoner of war who is sent to the 4077th for treatment for head injuries. While operating on him, Hawkeye instructs Margaret to trim the rough edge of an incision because he doesn't want to leave a bad scar. Frank asks why Hawkeye is taking so much trouble over a prisoner of war but the rest disagree with him and remind him that he is also a human being.
After the operation, Hawkeye visits him in Post-Op to tell him that he is being sent home as part of a prisoner exchange--whereupon Soo Ling shakes Hawkeye's hand and thanks him.
Much later, after the exchange has taken place, there is an announcement by "Seoul City Sue" saying that one of the Chinese prisoners who had been returned "has had head surgery for the purpose of inhuman experiments" and that Hawkeye has been labelled a war criminal.
The closing credits bill list this character simply as "Chinese patient". However Soo Ling mentions his name when talking to Hawkeye.
