About Sgt. ChiaveriniEdit
Sergeant Chiaverini is sent to the 4077th to investigate a case of mess trays stolen from the 8063rd MASH. Klinger takes him to see Hawkeye, who is in charge of messing arrangements for the 4077th.
At first Hawkeye is surprised to hear about the stolen trays, but upon questioning, Klinger admits to stealing the trays from the 8063rd because Hawkeye had ordered him to make up for 50 mess trays missing from the inventory of the 4077th. He tells Hawkeye that at first the 8063rd had offered to lend him 50 trays in exchange for a loan of 100 forks, but Klinger believes that "neither a borrower nor a lender be" and so he had simply stolen the trays.
Flustered, Hawkeye goes back to Chiaverini to explain his way out. He tells Chiaverini that nobody had stolen any trays but it happens that the 4077th had some extra trays and these could be handed to the 8063rd to make up for their shortfall. He asks Chiaverini how many trays the 8063rd were missing. Chiaverini, sensing an opportunity to make a killing, replies, "75!"
