Quoc was a character who made an appearance in the Season 3 episode of the CBS-TV series M*A*S*H, appearing in the episode "Payday". The part of Quoc was played in the episode by veteran actor Jack Soo, who is well known to TV viewers for his role as Det. Nick Yemada on the ABC-TV series Barney Miller, and who also made the final of two appearances on the seriesk having appeared as black marketeer Charlie Lee in the second overall series episode, "To Market, to Market" in Season 1 of the series.
In the Payday episode, Quoc, who's a local merchant, visits Frank at the Swamp to entice him with his wares. Quoc shows him a new pair of red silk pajamas that he thought he would be interested in that surely would "drive the honeys nuts"! When Frank shows him his wedding ring and asks him "What this look like to you!?", Quoc, who's also a shrewd and knowledgeable jewelery merchant, and not very impressed of Frank's taste in jewelry, answers "24-karat cheap"! When a string of pearls Quoc shows him interests the Major, he pays Quoc $500 for the strand plus gets a free imitation set thrown in by Quoc for that “someone on the side.” Quoc then visits Margaret in her tent. She, too, is interested in the imitation pearls, but Quoc says he can have another strand in an hour, for another Major bought his last one plus a “$500 job for his wife!”
