Michael's appearances on TV soap operas, which began with a small role on Santa Barbara in 1984, include the role of Duncan McKechnie on As the World Turns a role he played from 1986 to 1996 and did a brief return in 2002. In 1996, Swan appeared on One Life to Live as John Carpenter. Swan went on to appear on The Bold and the Beautiful as Adam Alexander and Brad Green on Guiding Light.

Micheal's many prime-time TV series appearances include guest roles on the shows Marcus Welby, M.D., The Rockford Files, The Man From Atlantis, Vega$, "V", The A-Team and Falcon Crest.
