About Woodruff and Radar's promotionEdit
The gang ends a late night poker game when midnight strikes, with Radar winning the last pot. Hawkeye and B.J. are upset when they remember that Woodruff, who was playing with them, owes them both money and doesn't have the money to pay up.
Woodruff, who works in the I Corps "mimeograph setup", the office that issues promotions, offers up a promotion to either of the doctors instead of the money he owes them. Neither one of them wants to be a Major, but B.J. suggests "Lt. Radar O'Reilly."
When Col. Potter, although he was still delighted that the Army recognized Radar's work by promoting him to an officer, still questions the promotion; when he curiously contacts I-Corps, Woodruff answers, and makes up an explanation, while acting as if he was thumbing through promotion files for Radar's file, answering "Ahh...the O'Reilly promotion..for signaling and blowing beyond the call of duty!"
