About Major ChoiEdit
The 4077th receives a call for help from the Korean Army Hospital 436 which is short of supplies and doctors. Potter and Hawkeye drive up to the hospital with a jeepful of supplies where they are greeted by Major Choi, the Korean Armu surgeon who is in charge of the unit. Choi thanks them for coming and puts them straight to work.
At first Potter and Hawkeye are appalled by the primitive conditions of the hospital. It is a ramshackle hut, the instruments are filthy, the electricity fails and they have to operate by torchlight, and they come under enemy artillery fire. Choi however stoically tells them that the Korean medical personnel have to do their best with what little they have.
Potter and Hawkeye make it through a marathon surgery session and eventually they are ready to go back. As he is leaving, Potter invites Maj. Choi to visit the 4077th to watch the whole team in action. "We have a good bunch of doctors there," Potter says. "Even Frank Burns?" Hawkeye asks. To their surprise, Choi has heard about Frank Burns, whom he knows as "old Ferret Face". Apparently Frank had treated a few of Choi's men in the past. "And they survived?" Hawkeye asks. "Yes, they were lucky," Choi replies to laughter all around.
