Lieutenant Mason was a nurse who made two appearances in M*A*S*H. The first was in Season 1 in The Army-Navy Game. This part was played by Bobbie Mitchell in the first of at least 9 different nurse characters that she would play from Season 1 to Season 5. The second appearance was in Season 2 in For the Good of the Outfit, this time played by Lesley Evans as the second of three nurse characters that she played in Season 2. It is not known if the two Lieutenant Masons are intended to be the same character.

About Nurse Mason[]

At the beginning of The Army-Navy Game, Bobbie Mitchell's Mason turns up in Henry Blake's office with cheerleader pom poms to celebrate the beginning of the Army Navy Game together with Hawkeye and Trapper. Later in the episode, she helps to take care of the patients in Post Op as the camp comes under artillery attack. A near miss by a shell rocks the room and throws her into the arms of Hawkeye. She asks: "Are we dead?" Hawkeye replies: "Feels like heaven to me."

In For the Good of the Outfit, Mason, played by Lesley Evans, is approached by Hawkeye as she leaves the O.R. Hawkeye asks her if she wants to play sardines - in his tent and would bring the oil.
