In the "For the Good of the Outfit" episode, when Hawkeye and Trapper discover that a nearby town has been shelled by U.S. forces, they pursue the issue further by contacting General Clayton, who visits the camp, in still trying to look at the situation from their point of view, he asks them, in trying to get them to back down from their report on the incident "Hey, even I'm getting pressure from above...you don't want to give the Army a black eye, do you? Let's play ball...Shall we?" Although Majors Burns and Houlihan offered their version of the village bombing, when General Clayton hears both reports, in the the end, he helps make sure that the Army rebuilds the villiage, with a report which satisfies the US Army and Hawkeye and Trapper.
