Mister Kwang, a South Korean Army anesthesiologist, is a recurring character in Season 3 of the CBS-TV series M*A*S*H. He was played by Leland Sun and Soon-Tek Oh, and also possibly by others; Mr. Kwang is usually an uncredited extra, and is often not seen clearly on camera. Hawkeye and Trapper will often have one-sided conversations with Kwang in the O.R., who tends to remain silent with his back to the camera (when he is even in the shot at all).

In his first appearance, in the episode Rainbow Bridge, Mr. Kwang has a few brief lines but the actor playing him is uncredited.

Kwang pops up in several episodes following his first appearance, usually played by an unidentified extra with no lines. However, in the episode There Is Nothing Like a Nurse, although the character still has no lines, credit is given to Leland Sun for the role. It is unknown if Sun was the actor playing Mr. Kwang in his other early appearances. However, in the episode Bombed, Hawkeye specifically calls over "Leland" to assist him with anesthetizing a patient. This would suggest the extra called over to do this was Leland Sun, and that the character he plays, Mister Kwang, also has a first name of Leland.

By far Mr. Kwang's most substantial appearance is his last, in Love and Marriage. The part of Kwang in this episode was played by Soon-Tek Oh.

About Mr. Kwang []

At the beginning of the episode "Love and Marriage" Frank knocks an instrument out of the orderly Mr. Kwang's hand and then yells at him for being clumsy. Later, in the scrub room, Trapper and Hawkeye stick up for Kwang, a Korean Army enlisted medic who's the anesthesiologist in O.R. for the 4077th.

Later, from an invite from Trapper and Hawkeye, Kwang follows them to the Swamp for martinis, as he tells them how he was shanghaied into the ROK army, picked up medical skills at the 121st evacuation hospital, and was pleased to be transferred to the 4077th. He then laments he has not seen his wife since his “drafting”, so Hawkeye and Trapper tell him they'll arrange a 3-day pass for him.

The Captains are conducting the premarital physicals for the G.I.s and their Korean fiancés; Radar uses his conniving ways to get Henry to sign the 3-day pass for Kwang. Later, while the surgeons are playing poker with Henry, Frank enters and says Kwang had a “forged” pass, ran off when Frank removed him from a Seoul-bound truck, as he fired a warning shot to make Kwang come back.

Hawkeye and Trapper both present Kwang's case to Henry, showing him the pass he signed. Though Henry does not remember signing it, he will get the desertion charges dropped, but will not allow Kwang a pass. Kwang's wife is about to have their first child, so Hawkeye, Radar and a driver take a long journey by bus to bring her to the 4077th.

En route to the 4077th, just minutes away from the destination, Mrs. Kwang goes into labor, causing Radar to become a complete wreck! Hawkeye delivers the baby as they all return safely to camp, as Radar passes out and has to be carried off the bus on a stretcher! Kwang decides to name the baby after all those who helped him: Radar Benjamin Franklin Trapper John Henry Kwang!
