Lieutenant Palmer was a nurse who made a one time appearance in the Season 9 episode of M*A*S*H titled "Taking the Fifth". The part of Lt. Palmer was played by Margie Impert.

During the episode, Hawkeye has obtained a bottle of '47 Chateau Margaux, a particularly fine vintage Bordeaux. Since he has been particularly unsuccessful in chatting up the nurses, he now hatches a scheme to get a date with a nurse. He posts a notice on the bulletin board announcing a contest for one lucky nurse to share the bottle of Bordeaux with him. The winner would be the one who could, using one hundred words or less, best describe why she should be "in a glass by herself".
Margaret is particularly disgusted by this contest but Hawkeye does get three entries, including one from Palmer, writing under the codename "Sweet Preserves". In her contest entry, full of phrases calculated to flatter Hawkeye, she talks about how she turns to jelly every time Hawkeye looks in her eyes.
Palmer wins the contest and meets up with Hawkeye in the supply tent. At first she acts like she is all smitten by Hawkeye. As Hawkeye prepares to pour the wine she tells him that she is bothered. "I don't know if I'm woman enough for you," she says. Before Hawkeye can react, she gives a loud whistle and the tent is invaded by all the other nurses in the MASH who proceed to pass the wine bottle around.
It turns out that everything has been a ruse organized by Margaret with Palmer as the bait. "Well, it looks like the drinks are on me - not to mention the joke," says Hawkeye. "Oh, not at all. Your wildest fantasy has just come true," says Margaret. "You've just been had by the whole nursing staff."
