About Dr. KaplanEdit

Dr. Kaplan was a dentist who appeared on two M*A*S*H episodes. He first appears briefly in "Major Fred C. Dobbs," performing some dental work on Lt. Col. Henry Blake while Major Frank Burns berates the colonel about Hawkeye and Trapper's latest shenanigans. In "Showtime", Kaplan has gotten his orders to go home. He is ultra-paranoid and rather anal retentive about what might happen to him before he gets to go home; he doesn't want anything to delay his processing out of the Army or prolonging his stay, but at the end of the episode, he winds up in a minor accident as his driver was transporting him from the camp, breaking a leg.

In playing the erstwhile, rather neurotic Kaplan, Harvey J. Goldenberg gives a tounge-in-cheek performance similar to Woody Allen as nerdish store owner Miles Monroe in the 1973 blockbuster comedy film Sleeper.
