About Corporal ShapiroEdit
Corporal Shapiro is a corpsman at the 4077th who speaks with a deep southern accent. When Hawkeye gets stuck with the last clue of his crossword puzzle (a 5 letter Yiddish word for bedbug) Potter suggests that Shapiro (whose name suggests Jewish ancestry) might be able to help.
Hawkeye approaches Shapiro in the mess tent but Shapiro tells him his family has been in Georgia for the last seven generations "just raisin' cotton." He doesn't know any Yiddish, and doesn't even understand when Hawkeye says "Mazel Tov" to him.
