Capt. Phil Cardozo is a dentist who makes a one time appearance in the Season 2 episode "5 O'clock Charlie". The part of Captain Cardozo is played by Corey Fischer (billed as Corey Fisher). Fischer also appeared as Captain Bandini in the 1970 MASH film, making him one of four actors to appear in both the MASH film and the TV series, together with Gary Burghoff, G. Wood and Timothy Brown.

Like Captain Bandini in the MASH film, Phil Cardozo plays the guitar. Halfway through the episode, Hawkeye and Trapper are discussing ways to get rid of Frank and the anti-aircraft gun which he has taken charge of. Cardozo, who either lives in the Swamp or is visiting, plays his his guitar and listens in. Hawkeye offers him a drink. He replies that he had promised his wife that he wouldn't have a drink or another woman till he got back to her. Then moments later he asks for "a blast", but a short one because he has a date that night.
He then offers some advise. In his opinion, they should forget about Frank because "his kind is indestructible. They always have been." What they should do is get rid of the dump. This would then get rid of the need for a gun. Then this would get rid of Frank's motivation.
Inspired by his advise, Hawkeye and Trapper make a giant bulls-eye for 5 O'clock Charlie to help him hit his target.
